Ingredients
- Milk powder (2 cups)
- Semolina (3 tablespoons)
- Baking powder (1/4 teaspoon)
- Sugar (2 cups)
- Cardamom (5–6)
- Rose water (1 tablespoon)
- Ghee (1 tablespoon)
- Oil (for frying)
- Chopped pistachios (for serving)
Method
- First, soak the semolina in 2 tablespoons of water for 10 minutes. Then add 2 cups of milk powder, 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1 tablespoon of ghee and knead into a dough. If the mixture feels a little dry, add 1–2 tablespoons of liquid milk as needed. Keep kneading until there are no lumps left. Shape the mixture into small balls.
- For the sugar syrup, combine 2 cups of sugar with 2.5 cups of water and 5–6 cardamom pods in a pot over the heat. Stir well. When the sugar has completely dissolved, add the rose water and transfer the syrup to a bowl.
- Heat oil in a pot and fry the sweets over medium heat. If you deep-fry them, they will float to the top within a few minutes. Keep frying until they are golden brown.
- Once fried, soak the sweets in the sugar syrup for at least 1 hour. Then serve topped with a little chopped pistachio.
