Sweet Recipe: Gulab Jamun

Ingredients
- Chhana (1 cup)
- All-purpose flour (1 tablespoon)
- Sugar (1.25 cups)
- Cardamom (2)
- Cinnamon (2 sticks)
- Bay leaf (1)
- Rose water (1 tablespoon)
- Ghee (1 tablespoon)
- Oil (for frying)
Method
- First, make chhana from 1 liter of milk. You can find the chhana recipe here.
- To make the sugar syrup, cook the sugar with 1 glass (250 ml) of water along with the cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf, and rose water until the sugar dissolves completely. Transfer it to a bowl.
- For the sweets, knead the chhana, flour, and 1 tablespoon of ghee very well. Make sure there are no lumps left. Shape the mixture into small balls.
- Heat oil in a pot and fry the sweets over medium heat. If you deep-fry them, they will float to the top within a few minutes. Keep frying until they are golden brown.
- Once fried, soak the sweets in the sugar syrup for at least 1 hour. Then serve.
