Ingredients

  • Ground beef (400 grams)
  • Chopped carrots (1/2 cup)
  • Chopped celery (1/2 cup)
  • Chopped tomatoes (1 cup)
  • Kidney beans (1 cup)
  • Chopped onions (1 cup)
  • Soy sauce (1 teaspoon)
  • Worcestershire sauce (1 teaspoon)
  • Paprika powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Chili powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Cayenne pepper powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Ginger powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Garlic powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Turmeric powder (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Cumin powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Coriander powder (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Black pepper powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Oregano (1 teaspoon)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Beef stock (2 cups)
  • Oil (as needed)

Method

  1. Heat a little oil in a pan and add the ground beef. When the beef is browned and lightly golden, transfer it to a bowl.
  2. In a large pot, heat oil and add chopped onions. When the onions soften slightly, add all the spices and sauces one by one, stirring well. Add chopped tomatoes. When the tomatoes soften, add the carrots and celery. Then add the browned ground beef. Cook, stirring constantly, for 5–7 minutes. Add the kidney beans and beef stock and cover.
  3. Stir once or twice every 5–7 minutes. When most of the liquid has reduced, remove from the heat. This chili is wonderful served hot with creamy mashed potatoes.
