Tuna Fish Chop

Ingredients

  • Canned tuna (1 can — 190 g)
  • Mashed potato (1 cup)
  • Turmeric powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Red chili powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Cumin powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Lemon juice (1 tablespoon)
  • Egg (1)
  • Green chilies (2–3)
  • Cilantro (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Oil (for frying)
Before frying

Method

  1. Drain the tuna well from the can and squeeze out excess water. When buying tuna, choose tuna packed in water — oil-packed tuna does not work as well for this chop. Mix the fish with all the remaining ingredients in a large bowl. If the mixture is too stiff, add a little water. If it is too soft, add a small amount of gram flour, rice flour, or all-purpose flour. Shape into small chops and deep-fry over medium heat until golden brown. Do not fry on high heat — the outside will brown too quickly while the inside stays raw. Serve hot.
